Our members live in the four corners of the country, from the Outer Hebrides, to the Borders, Shetland and everywhere in between. With the help of the newsletter, this website and our training days, we aim to bring our yoga community together. We welcome ideas and input to keep our offerings vibrant and representing the wishes of the members.
We offer regular community focused events, often in collaboration with other Scottish yoga organisations, such as members afternoons, an annual yoga festival, first aid training days and regular learning days for yoga teachers or practitioners interested in enhancing their knowledge of a specialised subject.
Our newsletter is produced three times a year featuring articles and full listings of our events and trainings. As a BWY member you can opt to receive regular emails about our events by choosing Scotland as your primary or secondary region/nation.
We have a lively committee of volunteers, who work together to organise all the events in Scotland. If you are interested in joining us, or can offer occasional support, we would love to hear from you. Please contact one of the team below.
Three times a year the latest news from your local yoga community is published as a digital flipbook. It is a great way to find out what events are coming up, read articles and features and stay connected. Advertising rates can be found by scrolling down this page or click here.
Would you like to share your love of yoga with others and be part of the team making yoga more accessible in your area?
We’d be delighted to hear from you – click on the button to get in touch with your National Officer and discuss any volunteering opportunities in your area.
Follow us for local events, news and yoga inspiration
Each region or nation of the BWY has up to 1000 yoga enthusiasts and teachers, so if you have a retreat, book, training or product that would appeal to our communities, you can advertise in one or more of our newsletters.
To place an advert in any of the community newsletters, contact the editor (see Meet the team on any of the pages under the ‘Community’ menu).
Please note, non-BWY approved teacher trainings or courses that compete directly with BWY modules cannot be advertised within our publications.
Advertising rates are subject to VAT. Charities pay 0% VAT.
We love inspiring ideas for events – the best way to get your ideas on our calendar is to contact your Regional or National Officer with your suggestions of tutors, subjects or venues that you would like to see on offer. Even better still, if you can arrange an event with the support of your local committee or join them as an area representative, that will help ensure quality events in the future.
BWY committees run by volunteers in posts which need different time commitments. A good entry level role is secretary or deputy area representative. This gives you the opportunity to learn the ropes without too much pressure. Alternatively, you could offer to help occasionally at larger events. All help is welcome!
Joining your local committee is a great way to meet fellow yoga lovers in your area and feel part of a team. You can help ensure there are great events happening regularly near you and help spread the word throughout your community, especially encouraging people who may not know about BWY or even yoga to take part.
Yes. Many members find themselves close to two BWY communities. In your members dashboard you can select a primary and a secondary region/nation, to make sure you are kept up to date with all the great events happening near you.
You will receive a newsletter from and be able to vote in the elections for your primary region/nation.
On this website you can use Yoga Search, in the top menu, to find all upcoming events in your area, selecting specific types of event. You can also sign up for emails from your local committee and their newsletter which features all upcoming events alongside articles and news in your area.
